Web design for Aurora service businesses built on the search demand

A site for an Aurora service business needs decisions a template never makes: a page for every service, a page for every town the van reaches, schema that states what you are, and a phone number a thumb can reach. Those go in first, then the design goes on top.

What we find on Aurora websites

Six reasons an Aurora site stays quiet

These turn up on nearly every Aurora site we read before a fit call, recent builds included.

“Every service we offer is listed on one page and none of it brings in work.”

The fix. One page cannot rank for eight services, because Google has to settle on a single subject for it. We split it into a page per service you want the phone to ring for, each with its own title, heading, photos, questions and schema, all linked back to a services hub. On an Aurora site that is usually the largest structural gain available, and it changes what the site is even eligible to appear for.

“The site looks right on my screen and customers tell me they cannot find the number.”

The fix. Nearly everyone searching for an Aurora trade is holding a phone, often standing in front of the problem. The number goes in the header as a tap to call, repeats at the end of every section, and the form gets short enough to finish one handed. Then it is tested on real devices instead of a desktop preview, because a number that cannot be tapped does not get dialled.

“We work in Newmarket and King City as much as Aurora and the site never says so.”

The fix. A line in the footer is not a page, and it will not rank you anywhere. We build a page for each town the demand supports, with real detail about that market on it rather than the Aurora page carrying a different name. Where the numbers are thin we say so and leave the page out, because a set of near identical town pages is the pattern that gets a whole site ignored.

“The person who built it has moved on and I cannot change a price without paying somebody.”

The fix. Owner maintainable is a design decision rather than a platform feature. We build so prices, hours, photos and service copy are editable in a visual editor, record a walkthrough of your own site, then sit down with you once after launch. An Aurora business that can post a job photo the afternoon it happens keeps the site alive between engagements instead of letting it go stale.

“Our current site ranks for a few things and I am afraid a rebuild will throw that away.”

The fix. The risk is real, and it is also manageable. Before anything is touched we take a backup and crawl every existing URL along with what it earns. Each retired URL gets a redirect to its closest replacement, the titles and headings that were working carry across, and Search Console coverage is watched through launch and after it. Pages that were earning keep earning, and the ones that were not get rewritten.

“We paid for a site once and then every small change arrived as an invoice.”

The fix. That is the model this is built against. The site sits in your own account with you as the owner from the first day. Bug fixes, small content changes and questions in the thirty days after launch are part of the build. After that, changes are either scoped on their own or handled inside a monthly engagement, and you can always make them yourself. No login is ever held over you.

What we actually optimise

Nine things in scope on every build

All of it in before anything specific to your business is added, whether the site serves Aurora Village or Industrial Parkway North.

Custom Squarespace build

A designed site rather than a template with a logo dropped into it. Shopify or WordPress instead, where a catalogue or an integration makes one of those the better fit for the business.

SEO architecture

The sitemap drawn from the demand numbers for Aurora, Newmarket and the towns you cover, so the service and town pages exist before the design does instead of arriving after launch.

Mobile first layout

Designed for the phone first, since that is where Aurora service searches happen, then widened for tablet and desktop. Tap to call, thumb sized buttons, and a form that fits one screen.

On page setup

A unique title and description per page, one clean heading structure, alt text on images, tidy URLs, internal links between services and towns, and the speed work Core Web Vitals measures.

Schema markup

LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ and Breadcrumb markup written and validated, so Google and the AI answer engines can read what you do and where you do it without having to guess.

Service and location pages

Inside the architecture rather than bolted on: one page for each service, one for each town the demand supports, each with its own copy, photos and questions.

Forms and booking

Quote forms, contact forms and any booking integration wired to an inbox somebody reads, fields cut to the fewest that still qualify an Aurora inquiry, every submission tested before launch.

Tracking setup

GA4 and Google Tag Manager configured properly, with calls, form submissions and quote requests counted as conversions, so a monthly report can talk about leads instead of sessions.

Training and support

A recorded walkthrough of your own site plus a live session, then thirty days after launch where bug fixes, small content changes and questions are part of the build.

Recommended first 90 days

How an Aurora build runs, stage by stage

Three stages, each ending in something you can read, approve or walk through before the next one begins.

Stage one

Discovery

  • Owner interview and full service list
  • Demand pulled for your trade in Aurora
  • Current site crawled and backed up
  • Aurora and Newmarket competitors read
  • Sitemap and page count agreed
Stage two

Architecture and design

  • URL structure and link map drawn
  • Copy written one service at a time
  • Brand applied or tidied up
  • Designs reviewed with the owner
  • Photos chosen, shot or sourced
Stage three

Build and launch

  • Pages built and copy loaded
  • Schema, redirects and forms checked
  • GA4 and Tag Manager confirmed
  • Launch and Search Console submission
  • Training session and thirty days support

Sequence, not a promise. What actually gets built first comes out of the first-month audit of your site, your Business Profile and the businesses already ranking in Aurora.

Proof before promises

Numbers from businesses like yours, not from a slide deck.

Every figure below is pulled from Ahrefs, Google Search Console or Local Falcon and dated. Read them, then ask to see the accounts.

What we fix before we build

First we find the holes. Then we fill them.

Most of what is costing you calls is already on your site. We audit what exists before we add anything, and we verify a restorable backup before we touch a thing.

Broken links and 4xx errorsDead pages and dead ends, found by a rendered crawl, fixed and rechecked with a second crawl.
Missing or duplicate H1s and metadataEvery page gets one title, one H1 and one job. No two pages competing for the same search.
Redirect chains and indexing alertsCanonical, redirect and coverage alerts in Search Console resolved, not left sitting in the inbox.
Orphaned pagesPages with zero internal links get linked into the site or retired with a redirect.
Pages that are no longer trueArticles describing services you stopped offering are corrected or removed before they generate the wrong calls.
Backups, plugins, DNS and emailBackups that quietly stopped running, overlapping plugins, and the DNS and email records that decide whether your quotes land in inboxes.
How the work moves

Four steps from inquiry to the phone ringing.

No slide deck, no twelve-month contract. A one-page scope, a verified backup, then the cleanup and the build, reported every month in five parts.

01Week one

We read it properly.

Your website, your Google Business Profile and the businesses already ranking in Aurora, Richmond Hill and Newmarket, before we reply. If we are not the right fit for your market or your stage, we say so and point you somewhere better.

02Week one

A 30-minute fit call.

What is costing you calls today, what we would fix first, what we would build after that, and what it costs. Straight numbers, no slide deck.

03Week two

A one-page scope, then access and a backup.

What we fix, what we build, what we report each month, and the monthly figure. Website admin, Google Business Profile, Search Console and analytics access, then a backup taken and verified before anything is touched.

04Month one on

Cleanup, build, report.

The site stops leaking calls first. Then the service and town pages, the profile rhythm and the schema. Every month: baseline, work completed, what moved in search, what it did for the business, next action.

Why does Keyo build on Squarespace for most Aurora businesses?

Because the owner can run it afterwards. Squarespace gives enough design control to produce something that does not look like a template, handles the search fundamentals properly, and lets an Aurora owner change a price, add a photo from a job in Bayview Wellington or update hours without booking a developer. Keyo holds Squarespace Circle Platinum status, the top tier of their partner program. Where a real catalogue or a system integration is in play, Shopify or WordPress is the better answer and we say so while scoping.

How long does an Aurora website take to build?

Four to eight weeks from kickoff to launch, and the variable is almost never the design. It is content readiness. A business with its service list, photos of its own work and its credentials in hand moves at the quick end. A business where we write the copy from interviews and arrange photography sits at the slower end. A booking system or a product catalogue adds to that. The schedule goes on the one page scope before any deposit, so you know what is waiting on us and what is waiting on you.

What does a website cost for an Aurora business?

Website design is scoped from $5,000, and the figure moves with the page count, how many services and towns the architecture needs, whether content and photography are provided or produced, and any integrations. An Aurora trade with a handful of services and a few town pages sits near the start of that range. We do not publish a package price, because the page count comes out of the search demand for your trade and we check that first. The exact number goes on a one page scope after a thirty minute fit call.

Who provides the content and the photos?

We write the service pages, headings and calls to action from an owner interview, which beats what a tired owner types at eleven at night. You are welcome to supply copy if you have it, and the more you have, the faster it runs. Photos are the one thing worth spending on, because real pictures of your crew and your finished work in Aurora do more than any stock image. When you do not have them, photo and video is scoped separately from $1,500.

Can our existing site be migrated instead of rebuilt?

Often, and a migration usually runs shorter than a ground up build. We crawl the current site first to record every URL and what it earns, map the content onto the new structure, and redirect each retired URL to its closest replacement so the rankings and the links follow across. Search Console coverage is watched right through launch. Whether a migration or a rebuild is right depends on whether the existing content is worth keeping, and reading it is the first thing we do before quoting either way.

Is ongoing SEO part of the build?

The build includes the on page fundamentals: architecture, titles, descriptions, headings, schema, internal links, image work, page speed and conversion tracking. It does not include the ongoing side, which is article production, Business Profile management, citations, technical monitoring and monthly reporting. The ongoing side runs as its own engagement from $2,500 a month, month to month. Several Aurora clients do the build first and start the monthly work at launch, because a new site has the most to gain from being pushed while it is fresh.

Selective partnerships, meaningful results
