Web design in Newmarket built so the search work has somewhere to land.

A site for a Newmarket service business has structural decisions a template does not make: a page for every service, a page for every town you drive to, schema that says what you are, and a phone number that is never more than a thumb away. We build those in first, then design on top.

What we find on Newmarket websites

The six reasons a Newmarket site is not earning calls.

These come up on almost every site we read before a fit call, whether it was built last year or eight years ago.

“Everything we do is on one services page and none of it ranks.”

The fix. One page cannot rank for eight services, because Google has to pick one thing that page is about. We split it: a page per service you actually want to be called for, each with its own title, heading, photos, questions and schema, all linked back to a services hub. That alone rewrites what the site is eligible to show up for, and it is usually the single biggest structural gain available on a Newmarket site.

“Our site looks fine on my laptop but customers say they cannot find the phone number.”

The fix. Most of the people searching for a Newmarket trade are on a phone, often standing in front of the problem. We put the number in the header as a tap to call, repeat it at the end of every section, and make the form short enough to finish one handed. Then we test it on real devices rather than a browser preview, because a number that is not tappable is a number that does not get dialled.

“We serve Aurora and East Gwillimbury too but there is nothing on the site that says so.”

The fix. A line in the footer is not a page, and Google will not rank you in Aurora for it. We build a page per town that the demand supports, each one written with real detail about that market rather than the Newmarket page with the name swapped. Where the demand is thin we say so and leave it out, because a set of near identical town pages is the pattern that gets a site ignored.

“The site was built by someone who has moved on and I cannot change a word.”

The fix. Owner maintainable is a design decision, not a platform feature. We build so that prices, hours, photos and service descriptions are editable in a visual editor, we record a walkthrough of your own site, and we sit with you once after launch. A Newmarket business that can post a new job photo the day it happens keeps the site alive between engagements instead of letting it age.

“Our old site had good rankings and I am worried a rebuild will lose them.”

The fix. That risk is real and it is manageable. Before anything is touched we take a backup and a full crawl of the existing URLs and what they rank for. Every retired URL gets a redirect to its closest replacement, the titles and headings that were working get carried across, and we watch Search Console coverage through launch. The pages that were earning stay earning; the ones that were not get rewritten.

“We paid for a site and now every small change is an invoice.”

The fix. That is the model we are built against. The site goes in your account, not ours, with you as the owner from day one. Bug fixes, small content changes and questions in the first 30 days after launch are part of the build. After that, changes are either scoped separately or covered inside a monthly engagement, and you can always make them yourself. Nothing about your site is held hostage to a login only we have.

What is in every build

What a Newmarket build includes.

Nine things that are in scope on every site we build, before anything specific to your business is added.

Custom Squarespace build

A designed site on Squarespace 7.1, not a template with your logo dropped in. Shopify or WordPress instead where a catalogue or an integration makes that the better platform for the business.

SEO architecture

The sitemap drawn from real search demand for Newmarket, Aurora and the towns you serve, so the service and town pages exist before the design does rather than being bolted on later.

Mobile first design

Designed for the phone first, because that is where most Newmarket service searches happen, then adapted up to tablet and desktop. Tap to call, thumb reachable buttons, and a form that finishes on one screen.

On page SEO setup

A unique title and description on every page, one clear heading structure, image alt text, clean URLs, internal links between services and towns, and the page speed work that Core Web Vitals measures.

Schema markup

LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ and Breadcrumb schema written and validated, so Google and the AI answer engines can read what you do, where you do it and what you charge without guessing.

Service and town pages

Built into the architecture rather than added after: one page per service, one page per town the demand supports, each with its own copy, photos and questions.

Forms and booking

Quote forms, contact forms and booking integrations wired to the inbox you actually read, with the fields cut to the fewest that still qualify the lead, and every submission tested before launch.

Analytics and tracking

GA4 and Google Tag Manager configured properly, with calls, form submissions and quote requests set up as conversions, so the monthly report can show leads rather than sessions.

Training and support

A recorded walkthrough of your own site plus a live session, then 30 days after launch where bug fixes, small content changes and questions are part of the build.

How the build runs

Three stages from kickoff to launch.

The sequence every Newmarket build follows, with a clear deliverable at the end of each stage.

Stage one

Discovery

  • Owner interview and service list
  • Search demand pulled for your trade
  • Existing site crawled and backed up
  • Competitors in Newmarket reviewed
  • Sitemap and page list agreed
Stage two

Architecture and design

  • URL structure and internal links mapped
  • Copy written service by service
  • Brand applied or refreshed
  • Page designs reviewed with you
  • Photos selected, shot or sourced
Stage three

Build and launch

  • Pages built and content loaded
  • Schema, redirects and forms tested
  • GA4 and Tag Manager verified
  • Launch, then Search Console submission
  • Training session and 30 days of support

Sequence, not a promise. What actually gets built first comes out of the first-month audit of your site, your Business Profile and your competitors.

What we fix before we build

First we find the holes. Then we fill them.

Most of what is costing you calls is already on your site. We audit what exists before we add anything, and we verify a restorable backup before we touch a thing.

Broken links and 4xx errorsDead pages and dead ends, found by a rendered crawl, fixed and rechecked with a second crawl.
Missing or duplicate H1s and metadataEvery page gets one title, one H1 and one job. No two pages competing for the same search.
Redirect chains and indexing alertsCanonical, redirect and coverage alerts in Search Console resolved, not left sitting in the inbox.
Orphaned pagesPages with zero internal links get linked into the site or retired with a redirect.
Pages that are no longer trueArticles describing services you stopped offering are corrected or removed before they generate the wrong calls.
Backups, plugins, DNS and emailBackups that quietly stopped running, overlapping plugins, and the DNS and email records that decide whether your quotes land in inboxes.
How the work moves

Four steps from inquiry to the phone ringing.

No slide deck, no twelve-month contract. A one-page scope, a verified backup, then the cleanup and the build, reported every month in five parts.

01Week one

We read it properly.

Your website, your Google Business Profile and the competitors in Newmarket and Aurora, before we reply. If we are not the right fit for your market or your stage, we say so and point you somewhere better.

02Week one

A 30-minute fit call.

What is costing you calls today, what we would fix first, what we would build after that, and what it costs. Straight numbers, no slide deck.

03Week two

A one-page scope, then access and a backup.

What we fix, what we build, what we report each month, and the monthly figure. Website admin, Google Business Profile, Search Console and analytics access, then a backup taken and verified before anything is touched.

04Month one on

Cleanup, build, report.

The site stops leaking calls first. Then the service and town pages, the profile rhythm and the schema. Every month: baseline, work completed, what moved in search, what it did for the business, next action.

Why does Keyo build on Squarespace for most Newmarket businesses?

Because the owner can run it. Squarespace gives enough design control to build something that does not look like a template, handles the SEO fundamentals properly, and lets a Newmarket business owner change a price, add a photo from a job in Aurora or update hours without calling a developer or paying for a maintenance plan. Keyo is a Squarespace Circle Platinum Partner, which is the top tier of their partner program. Where a real catalogue or a system integration is involved, Shopify or WordPress is the better answer and we say so at the scoping stage.

How long does a Newmarket website take to build?

Four to eight weeks from kickoff to launch. The variable is almost never the design, it is content readiness. A business that has its service list, photos of its own work and its credentials ready moves at the fast end. A business where we are writing the copy from interviews and coordinating photography sits at the slower end. Custom integrations such as booking systems or a product catalogue add time on top. We agree the timeline on the one page scope before the deposit, and you know at each stage what is waiting on us and what is waiting on you.

What does a website cost for a Newmarket business?

Website design is scoped from $5,000, and the figure depends on the number of pages, how many services and towns the architecture needs, whether content and photography are provided or produced, and any integrations. A Newmarket trade with six services and four town pages sits near the start of that range. We do not publish a package price because the page count comes out of the search demand for your trade, which we check first. The exact figure goes on a one page scope after a 30 minute fit call, never quoted sight unseen.

Do we have to provide all the content and photos?

No, though the more you have the faster it goes. We write service pages, headings and calls to action from an owner interview, which is usually better than what a busy owner writes at eleven at night. Photos are the one thing worth investing in: real pictures of your crew and your finished work in Newmarket and Aurora outperform stock images every time. If you do not have them, photo and video is scoped separately from $1,500. Content produced alongside the design typically adds a week or two to the schedule.

We already have a site. Can it be migrated instead of rebuilt?

Often, yes, and migrations are usually shorter than a ground up build. We crawl the existing site first to record every URL and what it earns, map the content to the new structure, and redirect every retired URL to its closest replacement so the rankings and the links follow across. Search Console coverage gets watched through launch. Whether a migration or a rebuild is right depends on whether the current site has content worth keeping, and reading it is the first thing we do before quoting either.

Does the build include ongoing SEO?

The build includes the on page fundamentals: architecture, titles, descriptions, headings, schema, internal links, image optimisation, page speed and conversion tracking. It does not include the ongoing work, which is content production, Business Profile management, citations, technical monitoring and monthly reporting. That runs as a separate engagement from $2,500 a month, month to month. Plenty of Newmarket clients do the build first and start the monthly work at launch, because that is the point where a new site has the most to gain from being actively pushed.

Selective partnerships, meaningful results

If the ambition is serious, let's talk.

We review every inquiry personally and accept only the partnerships where we believe we can create a meaningful advantage in Newmarket, Aurora and York Region.
